Deposit Bonuses - The Truth Uncovered
The Bible Truth: Even though deposit bonuses often appear the same they are often drastically different.

For instance, at
Absolute Poker you get a 100% deposit bonus up to $500. You will have 60 days to complete the bonus and it will be released to you in increments of $5. For every dollar of rake that you pay you will earn 1 Point. As 6 Points are worth a dollar you have to pay $6 in rake to earn $1 of your bonus. So you are getting 16.7% of your rake returned in the form of a bonus.

At
Ladbrokes Poker they appear to offer exactly the same deposit bonus: 100% up to $500. You again have 60 days to complete the bonus but it is released to you in increments of $10. For every dollar of rake you pay you will earn 20 Player Points. As 30 Player Points are worth a dollar you have to pay $1.50 in rake to earn $1 of your bonus. So you are getting 67.5% of your rake returned.

There is therefore a massive difference between the
Ladbrokes Poker offer and the Absolute Poker offer despite the fact that they appear to be the same. You will earn your Ladbrokes Poker deposit bonus almost four times quicker! You will also have 30 days longer to complete the deposit bonus.

As you may have noticed from the above example each online poker room awards their own kind of points for every unit of rake you pay. These points are worth different amounts at every online poker room so it makes it complicated to work out what theyre worth. I have included this information about each online poker room which will help you to understand exactly how good a deposit bonus is:

In the above table there are two things that are the most important to use to determine how good a deposit bonus is. Ill use dollars as the unit in these examples:

Rake paid to earn a unit of bonus will show you how many dollars you need to pay in rake to earn $1 of your bonus. You want to pay the least amount of dollars to earn $1 of bonus. The following table shows that you can pay from $1.50 to $8 in rake to earn $1 of your bonus. This is a truly massive difference.

% of rake returned will show you the same information but in a different way. It shows the percentage of the rake you pay that is returned to you in bonus. In this case you want the percentage to be as high as possible. The deposit bonus table shows that you can get from 12.5% to 67.5% of your rake returned.

There are also other factors to consider:

* The size of the increment the deposit bonus is released in is important. Some of the deposit bonuses are released in small increments (e.g. $5). This is good for you if you dont plan to deposit a lot of money and may need your deposit bonus quickly in order to play with it.

* Some of the deposit bonuses are paid to you in full and wont be released in small increments. Be aware that if you deposit a large amount but dont release the deposit bonus in time you may receive no deposit bonus.

* The time given to you to complete the deposit bonus in full can often vary between a month and 3 months. Be aware of this especially if youre completing a deposit bonus that is released in large increments.

This is all shown in the deposit bonus table. The information is based on tournament play not ring game (cash) play. Therefore a unit of rake refers to the entry fee for a tournament. For example in a $10+$1 tournament the $1 entry fee is the rake.

If you do mainly play ring games take the figures in the deposit bonus table as a very good indication of the amount of rake you will get back in the form of a deposit bonus.
